I just returned from an incredible weekend in New York City! One of my “heroines”, my fan-TAB-u-lous teacher, visionary artist, poet, and spiritual sister, Shiloh Sophia McCloud traveled from California to NYC as she was invited to speak at the United Nations. Shiloh will be sharing her insights at the UN Commission on the Status of Women Conference on March 4th. While on the East Coast, she decided to hold a small workshop at The New York Open Center and I was so delighted to get a spot in SOUL~FIRE: Ignite Your Calling Painting Workshop – A Day Long Vision Quest with Shiloh Sophia.
My husband (and hero) offered to drive me into Manhattan and we made an adventure of it! The Friday afternoon traffic was crazy, but we enjoyed an informal “Police escort” as we drove into the city. Just kidding, but they did seem to be EVERYWHERE!
We arrived at the Hotel Chandler on Friday evening and were excited to receive a dinner invitation to join Shiloh and a few other classmates and instructors at La Fonda Del Sol, at Grand Central Station. We walked about 30 minutes through the city, vs taking a cab, and it allowed us to take in the sights and sounds.
After dinner, we decided to head to Times Square…wow! It was bright, busy and BLUSTERY! We didn’t hang out long because we were tired from our drive, so returned to the hotel. My husband remarked that “The night is young, but WE are NOT!”

Dinner conversation was really interesting and thought-provoking and I had a great time getting to know these fine folks. The food and service were excellent too!
After a great brunch, I head off to class at The New York Open Center, where I shared a “Day Long Vision Quest” with Shiloh Sophia and about 16 other beautiful souls. The day was moving, meaningful and will live in my heart and mind forever. The focus was on finding your calling and living it.
I LOVED meeting the other artists who traveled from around the country to attend and I made some connections that I will keep and cherish for a long time to come. The workshop was beautifully done and sparked my Soul Fire, as intended. Shiloh is a special soul…and meeting her in person, along with the other women, was so special.
