I recently started some new art dolls after seeing Victorian “icicle ornaments” on Pinterest (darn that Pinterest, anyway!).
This project is a great way to use up small pieces of fabric from your scrap stash and trims, beads, buttons and other elements too!
I spent a few blissful hours printing out faces on fabric and finding body fabric and coordinating embellishments. The embellishment phase will take some time, as everything is hand-stitched. Next, I’ll sew the front and back body pieces together and stuff the dolls. Can’t wait to watch these come together!

I really enjoy taking classes from other artists in my spare time. I’ve always had a fascination with dolls and happened across a course on Etsy, offered by Jessica Hamilton of The Doll Project.
Doll Project offers several downloadable courses and materials for doll-making projects of all kinds. I thought her modern version of clothespin dolls was simply adorable!
I’ve been scouring E-bay, Etsy and local craft stores for supplies and finally made my first few dolls. Aren’t they cute? …although, they aren’t so cute without their hair…lol.
